Central Massachusetts residents have several TMS choices in the city. This directory counts three TMS clinic addresses in Worcester: one on Shrewsbury Street east of downtown, one on North Lake Avenue near Lake Quinsigamond, and one on Grove Street. Patients often come from Shrewsbury, Auburn, Holden, Westborough, Grafton, and Leicester. Parking ranges from lots to street spaces, so ask the office where to park.
Most clinics track your progress with a short mood questionnaire, such as the PHQ-9, at the start and then on a set schedule. The scores help your provider see trends that are hard to notice day to day. If progress is slow, the provider may adjust the protocol. When your six-week course ends, many clinics taper visits over a few weeks rather than stopping all at once. Some patients later return for maintenance sessions if their mood starts to slip. A taper means your visits slow down near the finish, for example from five a week to a few a week, before stopping. Not every plan includes one. Your provider decides if a taper makes sense based on how you are doing.
Tell the technician. They can often change the coil angle or adjust the strength a little. Scalp tenderness and headaches are common early on and often fade as the weeks pass. Seizures are rare, and the team watches you during each session.
