Overview

Kristy Gonyon, LCPC, DMT is a therapist at Relief Mental Health in St. Charles, Ill., with more than 10 years of experience in working with individuals who suffer from anxiety, depression, relationship issues and a variety of other mental health concerns.

Kristy strives to maintain an open dialogue with her clients, using a collaborative approach to therapy interventions. Her goal is to give clients the tools they need in order to utilize the skills and knowledge gained during therapy sessions in their everyday lives. Examples of areas Kristy can address with clients include interpersonal communication, self-worth, and coping strategies for stress-inducing situations.

Kristy offers supportive and evidence-based interventions through the use of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) theologies. A dance movement therapist, she also deploys creative interventions such as dance/movement, play and art to deepen the therapeutic experience. Kristy applies humor in her work, which encourages comfort and connection with clients.

Passionate about helping people along their therapeutic journey, Kristy provides a compassionate environment to explore a wide range of concerns. She hopes all her clients gain insight, knowledge and coping skills to improve their mental health.

Kristy earned a Master of Arts in dance/movement therapy and counseling from Columbia College in Chicago and a Bachelor of Arts in dance and psychology from Columbia College in Chicago. She is a member of the Illinois Counseling Association and a resident of Sugar Grove, Ill. Kristy joined Relief in 2023 and enjoys dancing, karaoke, and spending time with friends and family.

Kristy collaborates with other medical and clinical experts at Relief to offer the right care to patients, which could include medication such as antidepressants or psychedelics (SPRAVATO® esketamine), and/or transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS).
