Overview

Denise Styer, LPC is a therapist at Relief Mental Health in Northbrook, Ill. She has more than 25 years of experience in working with patients who struggle with life transitions, depression, anxiety, self-harm, eating disorders, emotion regulation, and other issues.

Denise is passionate about providing education on how to build an individualized and unique plan based on someone’s personal goals and needs as well as a safe space for them to self-reflect without judgment. She understands that finding mental health help can sometimes be difficult but wants people to know she can assist them in gaining the knowledge and understanding to make the changes best for them. She strives to meet her patients where they’re at by showing compassion and teaching pattern interruption, emotion recognition, and challenging the client to do something different. She does this through therapeutic services, medication management, psychedelic antidepressant therapy (SPRAVATO® esketamine) for patients suffering from treatment-resistant depression, and/or TMS evaluations for those struggling with depression or OCD.

Denise earned her doctorate in psychology in 2001 from Adler University in Chicago, her Master’s degree in 1995 from the Adler Graduate School in Minnesota, and a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She joined Relief in 2020 and resides in the northwest suburbs of Chicago with her cat, Lily. In her spare time, she enjoys visiting her son in Oregon, spending time with her friends and family, and advocating for women.
