NeuroPsych Wellness Center is a Fairfax City Psychiatric Clinic dedicated to providing quality mental health treatment for children, teens, and adults. Our mission is to provide individualized, effective, and empathetic evaluation and treatment for our patients. At NeuroPsych Wellness Center, we believe in providing affordable, accessible, and coordinated mental health services. Patients don’t need to pay hundreds and thousands of dollars each month to get quality mental health services for themselves and their loved ones, we are in network with most commercial insurances including Medicare and Medicaid.
TMS & Spravato services by Clinicians not technicians: We believe it is important that clinicians perform these treatments. TMS and Spravato are treatment options for treatment-resistant depression, and your treatment must be reviewed and performed by a clinician every time you come in for a treatment to improve the outcome.
Alok Kumar, MD, is a compassionate and accomplished psychiatrist serving as the Medical Director at NeuroPsych Wellness Center, PC. With over 13 years of experience in the field of psychiatry, Dr. Kumar brings a wealth of expertise and dedication to the provision of high-quality mental health care.
As a board-certified psychiatrist, Dr. Kumar has a deep commitment to understanding and addressing the complexities of mental health disorders. Specializing in treatment resistant depression, Dr. Kumar employs evidence-based practices using FDA Cleared Spravato and TMS treatments and with message “Treatment by Clinician not technicians”, ensuring each patient receives comprehensive care tailored to their unique needs.
Dr. Kumar’s professional journey is marked by a relentless pursuit of excellence in psychiatric care. He completed his residency in Psychiatry at the University of Texas Medical Branch, Department of Psychiatry, Galveston, Texas. He then completed his Geriatric Psychiatry Fellowship at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville.

Paul Ruberg is a board-certified Physician Assistant who received his Master of Health Sciences in Physician Assistant studies from University of Maryland, Baltimore. He has held the Assistant Director of Interventional Psychiatry role for a former Psychiatric practice focusing on providing TMS and Spravato services to patients in addition to medication management.
He has seen the impact TMS and Spravato can impart as adjunctive treatments for depression. Studies indicate a percentage of depressed patients do not adequately respond to typical medications. Often times these patients have trialed multiple medications without benefit. Trialing TMS or Spravato in the treatment course should be discussed with a medical professional.

Ashlee Ong, PA-C is a board-certified PA who earned her Master of Science in Physician Assistant from the South University in Richmond, VA. In addition, she completed a Bachelor of Science in chemistry from George Mason University in Fairfax, VA. Prior to joining NeuroPsych, she was in outpatient primary care for 2 years treating a variety of acute and chronic medical conditions in a diverse patient population of all ages and different socioeconomic backgrounds.
She found an interest in psychiatry through her patients while in primary care. She is an active member of VAPA. At NeuroPsych Wellness Center, she will be working with treatment resistant depression patients. She will provide consultation and education to patients regarding Spravato (Esketamine) treatment. She will collaborate with referring clinicians.
In her free time, Ashlee enjoys cooking and baking, doing puzzles with her husband, spending time with family, playing with her dog Butterscotch, and traveling to new places.
