Dr. John How, MD

John How, MD is a board-certified emergency medicine physician and Medical Director of Stella Los Angeles with over 15 years of experience working in emergency departments across the country. After observing the limitations of conventional medicine and encountering patient frustration with the lack of personalized care, he chose to focus on health optimization and holistic medicine.

Dr. How specializes in helping patients who work or live in high-stress environments and providing interventional psychiatric treatments, including the dual sympathetic reset (DSR) of advanced stellate ganglion blocks (SGB). His team of experts at Stella Los Angeles provide additional innovative treatments including TMS, Spravato (esketamine), ketamine-assisted therapy, integration therapy, psychotherapy, and medication management (pharmacology).

His clinical interests include the use of modern ultrasound to diagnose and guide treatment for various conditions as well as treating musculoskeletal and mental health conditions. Through extensive training in a wide range of specialties, Dr. How has developed expertise in precision ultrasound-guided interventions for conditions like peripheral nerve entrapment and soft tissue injuries. He earned his medical degree at California’s Loma Linda University School of Medicine and completed a residency in emergency medicine at Ascension St. John Hospital in Detroit, Michigan.
